About Byron Machuca


Graduated cum laude from Ecuadorian Naval Academy in 1982 with a degree in Marine Sciences-Second Lieutenant Ecuadorian Navy on 1986 awarded a Scholarship from the US Navy to study in MIT ( Massachusetts Institute of Technology) completed a Master of Sciences degree in Naval Architecture & Marine Engineer in 1988 (XIII A Course).



Early years of his carrier served in Navy Vessels (Destroyer & Corvettes), traveled through out the Pacific Ocean as foreign navy officer on board the “Esmeralda” Training Tall Sailin ship of the Chilean Navy.

On 1990/91 relocated to New Orleans, USA for the building of OPV (Offshore Patrol Vessels) for the Ecuadorian Navy

ASTINAVE Navy Shipyard & Engineering Departments until 1997.


FLOPEC (Ecuadorian Oil Shipping Company) for the New Shipbuilding of Crude Oil Tankers in the World largest Shipyard HHI (Hyundai, Heavy Industries), Korea, 1998~1999.

Project Manager, Marine Surveyor/ Owner’s Representative in HHI (Hyundai, Heavy Industries), DSME (Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Eng.), SHI (Samsum Heavy Industries), Shipyards of Korea and Vietnam, 2000~2007.


Site/Project Manager of Awilco Offshore/ COSL Europe Drilling AS for the new shipbuilding of Semi-submersible Drilling Rig Oil Platform, 2007~2010.


Technical Superintendent of Prosafe Offshore based in Aberdeen, UK and Ciudad del Carmen, Mexico, 2011~2012.


Construction Manager for a Well Intervention Semi-submersible Rig Q -7000 at SembCorp Marine Singapore / Helix Energy Solutions Group Inc. Houston, USA, Singapore, 2014~2017.
